Dhikr After Salah

This is the complete guide to Dhikr After Salah and Dua after Salah. It is a fard prayer and supplication. Hazrat Abdullah Bin Umru RA Said: "I saw Prophet Muhammad SAW reciting Tasbeeh with his right hand" (Abu Dawud: 1502)

1. الله أكبر

Translation: Allah is the Greatest.

Saluting (Salam) after Fard Salah you would say Allahhu Akbar once out loud. (Sahih Muslim: 583)
Ibn Abbas RA said: I understand the completion of Nabi SAW Prayer due to Takbeer.

2. أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللّٰه

After Allahu Akbar you would say 3 Times Astaghfirullah. (Sahih Muslim: 591) Translation: I am asking Allah for forgiveness. When Rasool SAW finished his Prayer so He used to ask forgiveness 3 times. What is the Wisdom of seeking forgiveness after Prayer?

Istighfar means asking for forgiveness. That is if we made a mistake or we forgot, so may Allah forgive me or accept our prayer.

3. اللهُمَّ اَنْتَ السَّلَامُ وَمِنْكَ السَّلَامُ تَبَارَكَت يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَام

Translation: Oh Allah! only then is their security. and peace is from you. So blessed you are. Oh! you of great glory and Honor. (Sahih Muslim:591)

3. رَبِّیِ أَعِنِّى عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْن عِبَادَتِكَ

Translation: O Allah! So help me by your remembrance and by your gratitude and good ways of performing his worship.

Prophet SAW Said to Muaaz: Oh Muaaz! By Allah! I love you. Muaaz RA said: Ya Rasool Allah! I also love you too. The Prophet SAW said: I bequeath to you that never give up this Dua after every Prayer. (Abu Dawud 1522)

4.Tasbeehat

(1). Abuhurera RA Narrated that Whoever recites this Dhikr every prayer. His sins are like the foam of the sea even then you will be forgiven. (Sahih Muslim: 597)

سُبْحَانَ اللهِ

Translation: Allah is Pure. Words of Praise to Allah.

33 times (Subhan Allah)

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ

Translation: Praise be to Allah or Thank Allah

33 times (Alhamdulillah)

الله أكبر

Translation: Allah is the Greatest

33 times (Allahu Akbar)

And finally one time

لا إله إلا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Translation: There is no god but Allah. He is alone. He has no partner. To Him belongs the kingdom and to Him is the praise. He has perfect and great power over all things.

It also comes in some other Rawayaah such as

(2). Subhaan Allah 33 times, Alhamdulillaah 33 times, Allahu Akbar 34 times. (Muslim, 596).
(3). Subhan Allah 33 times, Alhamdulillaah 33 times, and Allahu Akbar 33 times. (Bukhari: 843, Muslim: 595).
(4). Subhan Allah 10 times, Alhamdulillaah 10 times, and Allahu Akbar 10 times. (Bukhari: 6329)
(5). Subhan Allah 25 times, Alhamdulillaah 25 times, and Allahu Akbar 25 times, and Laa ilaaha illallah 25 times. (An-Nasaa’ee 1351 authenticated by al-Albaanee)

5. Ayat-ul-Kursi
اللہُ لَا اِلٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ لا تَأْخُذُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ لَهُ مَا فِي السَّمَوتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَشْفَعُ عِنْدَةَ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِشَيْءٍ مِّنْ عِلْمِهِ إِلَّا مَا شَاء وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّمَوتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَلَا يَئُودُهُ حِفْظُهُمَا وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيم

Translation: Allah Ta'ala is He Who has no god but He is ever-living. Sustainer of all things. He neither slumbers nor sleeps. All that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth belong to Him. Who can intercede in His Lordship without His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind the youth. And they cannot perceive anything of His knowledge but as much as He wills. His throne is in the heavens and covers the earth. And the protection of both of them does not tire Him. He is the Most Exalted, the Greatest. Sayyid Na Abu Umamah RA narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) saying: The person who recites Ayat-ul-Kursi after every obligatory (Fard) prayer, Nothing can stop him from entering heaven except death. (Silsila Ahadees Saheeh: 704)

6. Muawwidhat معوذات

Muawwidhat are the last 3 three Surahs of the Quran. Read these after every prayer.

1. Surah Ikhlas One time
2. Surah Naas One time
3. Surah Falaq One time

7. لا إله إلا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ المُلكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Translation: There is no god but Allah. He is alone. He has no partner. To Him belongs the kingdom and to Him is praise. He has perfect and great power over all things. Read this Dua 3 times after every prayer (Sahih Bukhari: 844)

8. اَللهُمَّ لاَ مَانِعَ لِمَا أَعْطَيْتَ وَلَا مُعْطى لمَا مَنَعتَ وَلَا يَنْفَعُ ذَا الْجَدِ مِنْكَ الْجَدّ

Translation: O Allah! There is no one withholding that which you bestow, and no one giving that which you withhold. And a person of status cannot benefit from his status from you. Also read this Dua 3 times after every prayer (Sahih Bukhari: 844)

9. لا إله إلا الله وحدَهُ لا شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ يُحْيِ وَيُمِيتُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلّ شَيْءٍ قَدِير

Translation: There is no god but Allah. He is alone. He has no partner. To Him belongs the kingdom and to Him is praise. He gives life and He gives death. He has perfect and great power over all things. Recite this Dua 10 times after Fajar and Maghrib Prayers. (Tirmidhi: 3474)

10. اللهُمَّ اِنّی اَسْئلْكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا وَرِزْقًا طَيْبًا وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّل

Translation: O Allah! Indeed, I ask you for beneficial knowledge. And of pure Rizq. And such an action (Amal) is accepted. Read this Dua after Fajar Prayer. (Ibn-e-Maja: 925)
